Common Questions

How frequently will our energy meter data be reported to PowerDash?

This is a parameter that can be adjusted, but generally data is recorded and uploaded every 15 minutes. If you are using our cellular network solution to connect to PowerDash, the upload will generally occur less frequently; however, this does not mean your data is being recorded any less frequently.

The hardware is capable of recording data as frequently as once per minute. Contact PowerDash if you have special requirements.

What happens if there is a power failure?

The datalogger keeps saved values that have not been uploaded, and resumes operation as before. No data already collected in the logger will be lost. No data will be collected during the time that the power is out, with the exception of the following: If the logger's "COUNT" inputs are being used to count pulse data from any devices, they will continue to operate.

Can I access the data that PowerDash has collected?

Please contact us about this so we can discuss it with you. In many cases, using PowerDash widgets and feeds offers a simpler solution than working with the raw data.

What do we have to do to our local area network to accommodate a PowerDash data logger?

There is seldom any special accommodation. By default, the data logger uses DHCP to lease an IP address. A static IP address can be set if required, and proxy servers can be accommodated.

The unit uses standard HTTP POST operations (like a browser) to interact with the PowerDash server, and does not require any open incoming ports. It does not support establishing a session by which unauthorized outgoing activity could be caused.
