PowerDash teams up with Energy Works Michigan to provide an energy monitoring solution for schools

October 1, 2010

This fall, PowerDash teamed up with Energy Works Michigan to provide an energy monitoring solution for schools throughout the state. Energy Works Michigan is a multi-year project funded by the Michigan Public Service Commission, updating schools with efficient, renewable energy systems, and educating students for a renewable energy future.

There are over 50 schools enrolled in the program with nearly 100 more joining the ranks this coming autumn. PowerDash fills a vital role in Energy Works Michigan, collecting renewable systems data and presenting it in an accurate, fun, and approachable format. For students, the PowerDash platform provides an easily understood entree into the world of renewable energy; for teachers, it is an engaging tool that works in tandem with a sustainable curriculum.

PowerDash's platform monitors data from the solar and wind systems (some up to 100 kW in size) and weaves it together with local environmental monitoring. An interactive portal allows anyone to check in on participating schools and view energy performance, carbon equivalents, or customize graphs comparing several data points, e.g. solar radiation and energy production.

PowerDash users can compare data points and visually assess system performance.

Together with PowerDash, Energy Works Michigan hopes to help revitalize the Michigan economy and inspire a new generation of Michiganers toward leadership in a sustainable future.
